Terms of Service

By accessing or using imagecompressor.cc (the "Service") you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to accept these terms for that organisation.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use it with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

The Service is a collection of free online image tools, including compression to a target file size, resizing, cropping, rotating, format conversion, PDF conversion, animated GIF compression and resizing, and tools for reading and removing image metadata.

Some tools run entirely inside your browser and never transmit your file. Others upload your file to our servers over an encrypted connection, process it, return the result and immediately discard it. Each tool page indicates which applies, and the privacy policy describes both paths in detail.

The Service is provided free of charge. No account, payment or subscription is required, and we do not apply watermarks or hold features back behind a paid tier.

You keep all rights in the images and files you process. We claim no ownership of them, no licence to use them, and we do not retain them. Uploaded files are used solely to carry out the operation you requested and are discarded when it completes.

You are responsible for having the necessary rights to any file you process. Do not use the Service on material you do not own or have permission to use. We are not responsible for infringement arising from your use of the Service.

Because nothing is stored, we cannot recover a file for you after processing. Keep your own copy of anything important — always work from a copy rather than your only original.

You agree not to use the Service to:

• process or distribute material that is unlawful, including child sexual abuse material, content that incites violence, or content that infringes another person's rights;
• remove metadata in order to conceal the origin of material you are not entitled to use, or to facilitate fraud or impersonation;
• upload files containing malware, or attempt to exploit, probe or overload the Service or the infrastructure it runs on;
• circumvent rate limits or file size limits, or automate access at a scale that degrades the Service for others, including scraping and bulk automated submission;
• resell, rebrand or present the Service as your own, or build a competing service by proxying our endpoints;
• reverse-engineer or interfere with the operation of the Service.

We apply automated limits on request rate and file size to keep the Service usable for everyone. We may block access that appears abusive, without notice.

We aim to keep the Service available and working, but it is offered without any guarantee of uptime. It may be unavailable for maintenance, technical problems, or reasons beyond our control. We may add, change, limit or remove tools and features at any time.

Certain limitations are inherent rather than choices, and we do not undertake to remove them. For example, HEIC output requires patent-encumbered encoders and is not offered, and metadata cannot be stripped losslessly from every format. Where a limitation applies, the relevant tool explains it.

The Service's name, design, text, layout and code are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property law. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the Service for personal or commercial image processing. That licence does not permit copying the site, redistributing it, or using our branding without written permission.

Output files produced from your own images are entirely yours to use for any purpose, commercial or otherwise, with no attribution required.

The Service is funded by advertising. Adverts are supplied by third-party networks, and we do not control or endorse their content. Your dealings with any advertiser are solely between you and them. How advertising cookies work, and how to opt out of personalisation, is set out in the privacy policy.

The site may link to third-party websites for reference. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy or practices, and following such a link is at your own risk.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that results will meet a particular requirement, or that any specific file size, quality or dimension will be achieved for a given input. Image compression is inherently dependent on the content of the file supplied.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill or business, arising out of or connected with your use of the Service — even if we have been advised of the possibility.

Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim relating to it is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us (which is normally nothing) or ten pounds sterling.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against any claim, demand, loss or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the Service in breach of these terms or in violation of any law or third-party right.

You may stop using the Service at any time; there is no account to close. We may suspend or withdraw access to the Service, in whole or in part, where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached or where necessary to protect the Service and its users. The sections covering intellectual property, disclaimers, liability and indemnity survive any termination.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection rights you have in your country of residence.

If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in force and the unenforceable part is applied to the maximum extent permitted. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.

We may revise these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows the current version. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms; if you do not, please stop using the Service.
