Facebook displays cover photos at 820×312 px on desktop computers and at 640×360 px on mobile devices. The minimum accepted size is 400×150 px, though uploading at the full 820×312 px gives the sharpest result. File size should be under 100 KB for fastest loading — a JPEG at 85% quality for a 820×312 px image is typically 40–80 KB.
Because Facebook uses different crops for desktop (820×312) and mobile (640×360), keep all critical content — logos, faces, and text — within the central 640×312 px area. Elements near the left and right edges will be visible on desktop but hidden on mobile. Avoid placing important content outside this safe zone.
Facebook cover photos are 820×312 px (2.63:1 ratio). Twitter/X profile headers are 1500×500 px (3:1 ratio). Both are wide-format banner images, but they cannot be reused interchangeably without resizing. Use our Twitter Header Resizer for the correct Twitter dimensions.
